US Badminton is committed to fostering a safe and respectful sports environment for all its members. To help prevent and address inappropriate behavior, we have appointed a confidential contact person (vertrouwenscontactpersoon) who is available to support anyone facing issues such as aggression, discrimination, or intimidation.

Why?

We aim to maintain a positive and secure sports climate. Any form of inappropriate behavior, including aggression, discrimination, and (sexual) intimidation, is not tolerated at US Badminton. Our goal is to prevent and address such incidents effectively.

When to Contact?

If you experience inappropriate behavior from another member and do not know how to resolve the situation, there are several options. You may discuss the issue with a teammate, coach, or the club’s board. However, you can also reach out to the confidential contact person, who serves as a first point of contact to listen and help find a suitable solution.

Who Can Contact?

The confidential contact person is available for all members, volunteers, staff, and parents of US Badminton members who experience or witness inappropriate behavior.

Role of the Confidential Contact Person in a Complaint:

Provides a listening ear.
Offers guidance through referral, mediation, or advice where necessary.
Ensures strict confidentiality in handling complaints.
May inform the board of the club that an issue has been reported but will only share details with the consent of the affected individual.
Can offer recommendations to the board regarding policies on preventing and addressing inappropriate behavior.
Operates independently but under the club board’s overall responsibility.
Is bound by confidentiality rules but may breach confidentiality in extreme circumstances, in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Confidentiality in Sports.

Annual Accountability

Each year, the confidential contact person reports to the club board whether any complaints were made, their general nature, and whether they were resolved. These reports are anonymous.

CVSN provides support for concerns related to inappropriate behavior, match-fixing, and doping. It is part of the NOC*NSF and is open to athletes, trainers, administrators, concerned parents, and professionals.

Confidentiality Code of Conduct

The confidential contact person promises to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all matters disclosed. Exceptions to this rule occur only in cases where written consent is provided by the affected individual or in urgent situations outlined in the Code of Conduct for Confidentiality in Sports.

If there are multiple confidential contact persons within the club, internal consultation is permitted. The affected person will always be informed before confidentiality is breached, except in urgent cases where immediate action is required.
